Holy carp my new laser printers is cool!
It was only $69 bucks, although the toner is freaking expensive, but it's worth the professional results! I ended up getting a Samsung. Oh yeah, it sounds like the Batmobile warming up.

1. Those things eat watts for breakfast... (thousands in warm-up mode)
So if you have it plugged into a UPS (battery backup), plug it into a normal outlet instead.

plus mine is new and has some kind of special power saving feature! :P

It seems everything is becoming environmentally friendly these days!

Thanks for the advice, I'll remember it if I get one of those back power supplies!

I just printed the I Have A Dream speech, it's so pretty!

3. They all have powersave modes...
When in 'ready' mode they juice a lot to keep the fuser at appropriate temperature.

Powersave/Standby mode turns off the fuser.

When getting out of Standby mode, or when you turn on the printer cold, you're juicin'.

I'm not denying their quality, but I'd rather go to my workplace and pay them a quarter to print a copy of what I'm doing. :)

6. My house is my office...
so I'm kind of not able to do that. Although, I could charge myself 25 cents every time I print off something.

4. When my Brother HL-5140 fires up...
It's like somebody getting the chair in a cheesy (or not so cheesy) prison flick.

7. Buy a second one. It's cheaper than buying ink cartridges
Plus if the 1st printer goes south, you still have the "cartridge" printer to use.
