Poll question: Have you ever seen a UFO? |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 12:16 AM by POed_Ex_Repub
And do you think it was a spacecraft, or an Earthly / Natural phenom?

2. I saw a spacecraft... a flying machine of some sort |
|
A classic flying saucer at very low altitude. Maybe it was some kind of government thing, or maybe...

9. I saw one like that once... |
|
when we lived in Texas. After it had flown over a nearby field and stopped in midair, it flew back right over our house and it was flying pretty low so that I could see that it was not an airplane or chopper. It was saucer shaped. Once it passed the house, it took off at high speed and vanished. There's no doubt in my mind what it was.

11. I saw mine way back about 1982 |
|
When did you see yours?
The one I saw behaved just as you described. And it had three big lights on the bottom of it, each a different color. And it made no noise at all.

We lived in a rural community outside of Paris, TX. I recall that the craft was kind of a dull silver color, was silent, but don't remember about the lights on the bottom. It sure did act strangely though! It kept flying back and forth between these two fields on either side of our house before it flew directly over us and was gone.
Where did you see yours?

13. It was here in Alabama |
|
I had recently turned 16, and I drove my girlfriend home from school. We saw it over her house in Tuscaloosa. When I first saw it, it was hovering up about two or three hundred feet in the air. When watched it for a while. I think I joked to my girlfriend, "Wow, I wish we had a joint." Then it suddenly started moving, and it practically disappeard, it was moving so fast.

14. It flew really fast, didn't it? |
|
It made me think of Star Wars and how they could fly their spaceships at 'lightspeed'! :)
I honestly believe that we are not alone in this universe. There are so many solar systems, galaxies, planets, etc. that have yet to be discovered. Earth can't be the only inhabited planet.

What really ticks me off is that when I was sixteen, I used to carry around a camera alot, I had a darkroom at home and all that. But since I was on my way home from school, I didn't have the camera with me. I really would like to have a picture of that thing, whatever it was.
Yes, I'm pretty sure there is life elsewhere in the universe, even if I didn't witness it in 1982.
Tangentially related, have you ever thought about how solar systems and galaxies and atoms are all very similar. I've wondered before, if we are all just just electrons and protons and neutrons in some other larger object, and that we also contain entire galaxies in each of the atoms that compose us. I know it's a pretty weird thought. :)

3. Not me, but my aunt and her family were in the National Enquirer |
|
being interviewed for seeing a UFO back in the mid-late 1970s (I think). They live in Syracuse, NY, and apparently, there were lots of reports that night. My mom used to have the newspaper clipping of it, but I have no idea where it is anymore.

Yes, and I don't know what it was.
It was what looked like an object very high in the sky, moving very fast, glowing, then not glowing, it moved from one horizon to the other, my father and I both saw it. Based on what I saw, I have no reason to believe (or disbelieve) it was a spacecraft, but it did not look like any manmade or natural phenomena I know of.
I have always thought of it as a flying object, that I was unable to identify.

Broad daylight, playing with my 4 year old boy (a few years ago, now). He points up and says, "Whats taht?".
I'm a pilot and we live near the airport, so I look up, expecting to say ,"Oh, that's an AIRPLANE. Can you Say AIRPLANE?"
Except it wasn't. It looked like a set of animated (cartoon-style) dumbbells, maybe 3000 feet up, just hovering. It stayed there long enough for me to go inside, get binoculars and check it out some more.
With the binoculars, it still looked like cartoon dumbbells, just hanging in the sky. 3000 feet up.
Then it left. Fast. Started at a speed that might have been normal for an airplane-which it wasn't-then it really started hauling ass, and it was gone.
That is probably the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me. I have absolutely no explanation for it, and yes, I am a pain-in-the-ass knowitall, especially when it comes to flying.

20. I saw a photo of one of those once |

typical grainy UFO photo, but described the same way. I hate to admit it, but I've seen them on four separate occations (but none that look like a dumbell or flying saucer) and I'm as sceptical a person as you'll ever find, lol!I saw a group of three performing unnatural flying stunts one night, but other than that, all of my sightings have been with other people (the first in broad daylight with the entire neighborhood watching and several military aircraft in hot pursuit). I don't know what they are, but aside from "buzzing" a family friend on his way home from work (just following him mere feet above his car, then taking off when he slowed down) I've never heard of them giving anyone any trouble, so I don't worry much about them anymore. I did use to have nightmares about them, but since there doesn't seem to be any way to find out exactly what they are, it seems pointless to dwell on it. But hey, if they are indeed piloted by a superior race, then I wish they would land on the Whitehouse lawn and start bitch slapping a few people to knock some sense into them!

But then again, I like to believe that the plane that might be a UFO is Ashcroft's private jet :P

17. As an ameteur astronomer... |

I've spent untold thousands of hours of my life staring at the dark night sky and have seen countless unidentified objects. Do I think any of them were alien in origin? Only if "alien" refers to their foreign pilots ;)
I just can't grasp any reason why a civilized species would cross thousands of light years of space and NOT say hello. Most of what people think are "alien spacecraft" are either military aircraft, satellites, or birds.

If you picked up our RW radio signals, would YOU want to stop by? Maybe they're democrats. After all, it'd be a highly intelligent life form. :P

My mom and I were at Arby's getting takeout food, when I saw this strange light traveling off in the western horizon. I forget the details of it, but I knew that it couldn't have been an airplane or helicopter.
