Given the number of Dark Knight threads posted in here, I think it's evidence of ...
a very powerful film, at the very least. How many movies do you leave and discuss philosophically with others who have seen it? Not many! The fact that this film has enlivened so much discussion emanates from its depth. I find this remarkable.

Comic book movies, or movies in general: No more cheese. No more flash. No more style over substance. Has anyone noted the more gritty, darker 007 franchise? The Fight Clubs, the Children of Men, the I am Legend's? How about There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men? Many of these films uncover the darker side of human nature, turning a nose to Hollywood glitz and focusing more on the quality of the story and reducing the suspension of disbelief that many must make when viewing traditional movie pap.

I think that this is a particularly interesting time in film, and seeing the upsurge of musicals (where everyone is dancin' and singin'!) I think it will be short-lived. However, I'm glad that directors are delivering these themes to the audience. Themes that force us to confront who we are as a whole - not the romanticized, mythical aspect of our lives prettied for the big screen.

3. Saw this comment which summarized my reaction to the Joker...
The best part about the Joker was when his ideology made you think "wow that's actually pretty true" and then you go "holy crap this movie just made me agree with a total psychopath."

The three screenwriters did an outstanding job.

4. It's a masterpiece.
And in this day and age, a minor miracle.

5. I'll give you the masterpiece all right.
As far as the minor miracle... I dunno. Just make sure not to mention that to Mel Gibson, k?
