Just got back from renting my new apartment in San Francisco... |

Needless to say, I'm jazzed as hell. Had a great time in SF, where it's actually NOT summer in February (as opposed to muggy Miami where I live now). What a great town, Even better than I remember it. Ended up getting a roomy 2BR mother-in-law apartment in the Richmond, a couple blocks from Golden Gate park, with a garage & W/D for $1300, utilities included. Not cheap by any stretch, but not too bad for SF. It was nice to hear LIBERAL, even LEFT-WING thought on KPFA, the local pacifica station. I saw nothing but Dean, Kucinich, anti-war bumper stickers. Only thing is, is this kinda like fleeing to Canada?

9. $1300 is pretty inexpensive for SF |

A two bedroom near the park, utilities thrown in?? Depending on how nice it is, it could be a lot more. Sounds like you got a good deal! When I lived there, we had a two bedroom flat South of Market, trendy neighborhood but not 'pretty', for $863/month (this was 1987-1994), and that was an incredibly good deal, I thought at the time. Cute victorian, 1907, nice garden in back, free laundry, great place. I miss it a lot.

5. Thanks. The landlady is an elderly Chinese lady |

She was so sweet and endearing - that alone would have sold me on the place.

7. My son has an apartment in Berkeley for $700 a month. |
|
We are going out there in a couple of weeks and I think I will see why it is $700! He's a student so I assume he is living like one. We are taking an air mattress so we can stay with him.
Congrats on your apartment! It's not summer there in February and it's not summer there in July either. We were there in July and people were walking around with winter coats and tobaggans and I just had no concept of winter coats in July.
