To the person who ripped me off on eBay: I hate you, and hope you die in a fire.
You are a bad person. You are lower than whale shit. You are a thief.

I've been using eBay for 12 years, and never, EVER had a problem with a transaction before. But I've just been ripped off to the tune of $150, and I want angry-god-style vengeance.

You are a fucker.

Backstory: I'm on a REALLY tight budget, and was finally able to buy (I thought) another Kitchenaid mixer. Had to sell my beloved, really nice pro model a couple of years ago to pay my asshole drug-addicted ex's bills. Now I'm fucked again.

:nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

1. Oh, honey, I'm so so sorry.
Any hope getting it fixed through PayPal?

I got ripped off once, too, but it was ony $30. Still pissed me off.

2. I've filed a complaint, but I'm probably out the $$.
I can only get the money back if the seller has enough funds sitting in his Pay Pal account for them to seize, and that's pretty unlikely.

So, no still no stand mixer to keep me company in the kitchen for awhile longer. x(

I'm SO pissed.

22. Did you pay with a CC?
I had a friend who was ripped off on ebay to the tune of $900 and neither ebay nor paypal would do anything to help. Finally she contacted her CC company with a fraud complaint and they were able to reverse the payment.

Q3JR4.

23. No, it was out of my bank account.
But if you saw my update below, it looks like the seller MIGHT have shipped the mixer today. The tracking number shows up on UPS, but only as "billing information received." It hasn't actually been picked up yet, but I'll give it a week and see what happens.

4. Oh, that really sucks....
I purchased an artisian kitchenaid through Amazon for $110. It was a rebuilt model, but it looked absolutely brand new and came with attachments. I've had it for over a year now with no problems. So, maybe if eBay refunds your money, you can check out Amazon.

....and I hope that fucker has a really shitty life!!!

5. Did you try getting it back through your credit card?
This happened to me once through PayPal, not an E-Bay seller, but some other numbnuts that took payments through paypal. I had to go through paypal first but when they were unable to collect the money, American Express got it back for me. Took two months, but it was worth it to get back $300. You really should be able to get the money back from whatever credit card or bank account you use to fund your paypal account.

Good luck. Some people just really suck.

7. File a complaint at paypal.
I was able to get my money back AND a seller suspended several years ago.

As recently as six months ago, I got back about $50 on a pair of pants. Even though the seller fought it.

9. When I became a seller, I had to attach a bank account to my paypal account.
So, if he's already taken money out of his paypal account, then they can get it from his bank account, if he's got anything in it.

If you want, PM me his username. I'd like to see if he's got any auctions open...that's a good way to tell if he's still selling stuff. Also, look at his sales history, and you can contact other buyers, to see if they've received their goods.

I'll help you any way I can...if you want me to! We can get his phone number, his address, and you can even speak to police in the municipality where he lives. I love ferreting out these assholes.

10. His last auction ended on the 17th.
And I've already contacted a couple other buyers (haven't heard back from them yet).

I also got his AOL addy off PayPal, and sent him an email from my AOL addy (yes, I still have one from the stone ages), and now have a status/read receipt on the email I sent him a little while ago (for paper trail purposes). Fucker. I'll let PayPal do their investigation before I start bugging him at his physical address, but if I don't get my money back, I'll be contacting him that way, too.

I'm prepared to go after him in small claims court, just on general principle. And if he still doesn't pay, I'll record a judgment lien against him (which'll make his life hell until he pays up). Thanks to my line of work, I know all the ways to go after him--and even though it's a hassle, I probably will. I'm REALLY pissed.

25. It's a good thing you know the system that way;
I wouldn't know where to start without advice.

Once you get your money back, you might look at used restaurant suppliers (if you haven't already.) Sometimes you can get some bargains there, too :) Maybe even restaurant-supply auctions, like for failed restaurants and the like.

How about a 20-qt Hobart mixer? ;)

12. You can get your buck fifty back
from eBay. File a complaint against the person. I've done it before. I think eBay covers up to $200.

I bought something once that didn't arrive and I e-mailed and e-mailed. Within a couple of weeks the persons profile closed. I got my money back through eBay.

13. I am so sorry, Robin...
I've been selling on and off at eBay for years. Never sold kitchen appliances, but I've sold everything from Democratic bumper stickers to Robert Tilton paperbacks, from alarm clocks to vintage comedy DVDs. I do my best to make sure every buyer is satisfied; if I can't satisfy them (goods damaged during shipping, etc.), I refund their money pronto.

I sure hope this works out for you. Hang in there.

I got burned a few years ago when I bid on an item for $59 to buy my brother something for xmas. The seller promised I'd have the item before xmas and then never shipped it. I complained to ebay but was basically told "tough shit" because the item was under $60 (by $1). The seller was banned but I never got my money back.

19. UPDATE: As if by magic, the seller appears and claims to have just ONE mixer in her warehouse.
And sent tracking information where she claims to be shipping it today.

Oh, and she's off-her-rocker batshit crazy, too. FREAKY emails from this woman overnight (after zero previous communication).

So maybe, just maybe, I'll get Le Mixer after all.

21. Fingers crossed for you
My partner had his digital video camera stolen on eBay: $3000 bucks. eBay/PayPal was no help at all, but it turned out that our renter's insurance covered the loss (State Farm). They were actually quite intrigued by the claim: they realized that they'd better come up with some sort of policy on this as internet related theft was bound to become more and more common. So it's worth to check with your homeowner's/renter's insurance company.

24. Oh man I hope it works out for you
That kind of thing is why I don't buy anything off eBay anymore except used video games and the occasional cheap t-shirt. And everything is done via credit card through PayPal so I can chargeback if it goes awry.

eBay was cool when it was just average people getting rid of junk, etc. But it totally went to hell the minute people decided they could make their sole income off it, and "How to Make BIG $$$ on eBay!" books and infomercials came out. Now there are so many scam artists it's to the point where you have to wade through them to get to the handful of honest sellers still left.

I hope everything turns out ok. Those mixers are amazingly cool, my cousin's got one and I keep threatening to steal it. :)

38. We'll see--the shipping notice has been entered by the person, but UPS doesn't have it yet.
It's stuck in "billing information received" mode on the tracking info, which means either they haven't picked it up yet, or she hasn't dropped it off yet. I'm not entirely sure yet that she's really sending it.

However, it looks like Thom is coming to my rescue if the sale falls through! :loveya: :hi:

26. I understand..
I bought a Wii game for my SO last christmas off of ebay. It was tracked. I never received the game and the tracking showed only that it was received for shipping. I contacted the seller and they said that the post office said it was delivered. End of story. No help, no compromise, nothing. Highly ticked me off. I would understand if the tracking showed that it was delivered or anything more than just received for shipping, but the seller was no help at all.

The bank is taking care of it, but nevertheless - someone thought *nothing* of stealing the meager savings of a college graduate and overdrawing my account to the tune of $500, which may or may not affect my credit rating.

Theft really is a heinous crime that should be more strictly punished than it is - all it takes is one greedy, thoughtless asshole to really ruin an honest person's finances.

40. UPDATE to the update: she really sent it, it finally arrived!
Undamaged, new-in-box. I went over it VERY carefully last night to make sure it ran OK, and it does.

Now I feel bad for the other person who bought a mixer from her the same week--he still can't get her to even answer emails (we started communicating about 10 days ago when I contacted several other buyers to see if they'd been ripped off). I think that threatening legal action and letting the dingbat know I could see (and prove) that she'd read my emails finally got her attention; I just hate that it had to come to that.
