OK...admit it, when you first saw Rocky you were moved

I first saw it in 77. Loved it, but then again I was 7 years old.


Later on I rewatched it. To me it was the classic hero tale - school of hard knocks produces a chump who almost beats the champ. The franchise hadn't gone past the point of my suspension of disbelief (yet). Great movie.

They do what a movie should do - convince you and suspend your disbelief.

Every sequel, no.

But these are perfect examples of movies that should never have sequels.

when I first saw it. I was moved. I think I cried. I was young though. Saw it when I was probably 7 or 8 in 1985 or 1986 or so.

I liked the Rocky with the Russian (Dolph Lundgren) not sure which one was that.

I've just never gotten a thrill out of watching people beat each others' brains out.

I was once moved by an interesting boxing story, however.
A friend of mine bought a violin (and a nice one, at that) from a professional boxer. "Seems like an odd hobby for a guy that gets paid to bash heads", I told her. But apparently, the violin was responsible for his fighting career. He had to learn to fight off the thugs who dared call him a sissy.

By then I was immune to that sort of movie and found it boring. However, if I had seen it when it first came out, I'd have been 13 and probably would have loved it.

I loved it and also really liked Rocky II...the next three were downhill from there...but Rocky Balboa was pretty good...
