I'm from Silver Creek NY
I'm a Mom (first and foremost) I work at a Hardware store. I sell 2 different kinds of home party stuff. (don't think I'm allowed to list it) I love to crochet and knit and bead and read and all kinds of things (when I have time, with a 2 year old this is tough)

Oneighty introduced me to DU.

I've been lurking for about 2 months now. Just checking everything out before hopping in.

Glad to meet you cryfor dawn. I'm an oldie around here - meaning I've been a DUer for a while and I'm more than 60.
It sounds like you have a busy life. I'll share this mom story with you.

One day I was feeling pretty low and my young daughter heard me grumbling. "What's the matter, mom?" she asked. I replied, "I just need some time for myself." Her response was, "Self? You're not a self. You're a mommy!"

Enjoy that two year old. They grow up fast.

Chapel Hill, NC. And guess what? I'm a nurse! I work at UNC Hospitals part time and am in the process of launching my own business the rest of the time.

I found DU in my internet quest for fellow liberals who detest this administration as much as I do. Chapel Hill is not the liberal bastion that it used to be and I miss the camaraderie and the support.

I lurked around for about a week before I took the plunge and joined...I am trying to learn as much as possible to fend off my arch conservative dad this election and maybe even get my mom to vote Dem this year.

BTW, I worked for the Dems in 1992 and I'm looking to work for someone this year against the chimp. I'm still looking for the right candidate that I can get behind without too many doubts....

I'm really enjoying DU and learning a lot!:)

My hubby and I are self-employed woodcarvers. (Starving artists) in other words.
Happily married for 30 years this coming July.
Found DU link on the Bushwatch page maybe a year ago.
We read this every morning to catch up on the latest news--who needs newpapers? LOL
Also found DU helpful for other things besides politics.

Hello there matcom, and all my DU friends. I'd love to tell you a bit about myself.

I'm from a laboratory, where I was conceived using Mountain Dew and an ostrich egg. The laboratory was located in Duluth.

I'm a very very important Newsman. I make up stories in my feeble mind, and I post them on my very very important web site. Nine times out of ten they are completely inaccurate, because I'm too lazy and stupid to do any research whatsoever.

I found DU after I wrote my little Kerry store a couple of weeks back. I checked in to see what y'all thought of me, and as it turns out, you don't seem to like me very much. I can't say I blame in that I am a hateful piece of useless shit.

Hmmm. Lurking. Well, I lurk lots of places. Particularly outside of Ann's place. I mean I think she knows I'm out there in that tree, but we both kind of ignore it. It makes us both happy and we don't have to actually touch one another.

Long time lurker (we're talking MONTHS here) and a first time poster. Trying to get an account has been hard- my computer stinks.
My name is Lisa, I'm from New York. I'm going to be 18 in a month, and I'm very excited to register to vote.
It couldn't come at a better time. Bush is really the reason I've gotten so involved in politics. At first, I was one of the brainwashed majority but people like Michael Moore and Al Franken spoke to me, and I soon realized what lies I was being fed.
I'm far left in my views. I'm pro-choice, for gay rights (my brother is homosexual and we're very close), environmentalist, still undecided about the death penalty, and all around hater of the rich! :evilgrin:
I still consider myself Catholic although a lot of my views do not match up with theirs.

greetings, I'm going to college in Kirksville, MO, which is in the Northeastern corner about 30 minutes from Iowa and about 1-1/2 hrs from Illinois. I found DU via whitehouse.org. I've been watching for a month, a member for about one week.

I am intensely interested in this American election. I have huge concerns about "Butch". I saw him tell the world that letting UN inspectors back into Iraq wasn't good enough. I thought that he wouldn't take yes for an answer.

Although Americans are benignly ignorant of Canada, Canadians tend to be malevolently informed about th US. Former Prime Minister P.E. Trudeau said it was like being in bed with an elephant. In spite of the best intentions every twitch has enormous consequences.

Saw it mentioned on another Forum (DUers were referred to as the crazy left). Found a link to DU on Liberal Oasis and I've been lurking ever since.

Actually, I tried to post the first time I came here; but they said I already had a userid - can't remember from when. Took a while to get that cleared up - so, I lurked for a month or two.

It's unusual to find a forum where I agree with most of the posters. It's also fun.

My wife and I moved here from Montreal 3 years ago, and the first Confederate flag on the back of a pickup truck nearly sent us back. Since then, we have come to like many things about the South, but miss liberal thought tremendously.
