Garden Gnome-Napper NABBED!
<snip>

The mystery of the missing garden gnomes may finally have been solved.

Kimberly Rae Baker-Bundy, facing a Washington County Circuit Court theft warrant, turned herself in to the county jail late last week and now faces trial on the charges.

Although the 49-year-old Sherwood resident has not entered a plea, police think she roamed far and wide through Washington and Clackamas counties, perhaps for years, allegedly stealing items not solidly nailed down from area lawns, gardens and backyards.

"I've never seen a case like this," Sherwood police Detective Dwight Onchi said. "She literally had more stuff than you can imagine."

3. There are currently at least three commercials featuring gnomes
What gives? One is a travel ad (Travelocity?), one is a LAwn Doctor ad, and there is one for Domino's Dots.

ASide from the two "raised by wolves" ads this is the strangest trend you will see this days.

I remember hearing an urban legend about someone stealing his mother-in-laws garden gnome and taking it on trips and sending back photos, I think that that is where some of this started.

5. The worste yard trash...
I dont know if they have these anywhere but the south, but have you seen those wood-craft things that looks like a woman bending over into the bushes (pulling weeds I guess)? It looks like looking at 'Aunt Bee' bent over in the bushes. They are horrible.

7. Sadly enough, they are not isolated to Southern locations...
... they have infiltrated the northern territories as well. In some communities here in the rural north, they are thought of as fine and cerebral art. (Isn't most fine art constructed of plywood, with the help of a hand-held jigsaw?)

Also popular is the silhouette of the farmer leaning against the tree, smoking a pipe. And the young toddler, standing with his back to you, looking toward you over his shoulder, evacuating the contents of his bladder (which is represented by a yellow rope stapled to the back of the "artwork").

Ahhhh. Exquisitely refined, yet slightly avant-garde, no?

11. Yeah, and what's up with those globes?
They look like oversized Christmas bulbs. Is it a zen thing like crystals?

8. I'm still amazed at how many "little black boy servant" statues there
are--both north and south. You know the one, he's dressed almost like a little jockey, with hand outstretched (to take your horse's reins as you "ride up" I suppose).

well, so much for politically incorrect....

9. I remember a cool black family in my neighborhood
actually had a white jockey on their front lawn. It was a hoot!

6. Wasn't there some movie
Box of Moonlight? Where Sam Rockwell's always running around stealing those things? Or was it something else? Can't remember.
