Man accidentally shoots self in head
MADEIRA BEACH -- Dale Roberts thought his new pistol wasn't working properly, Pinellas deputies say, so he decided to test it.

Around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday Roberts, in jest, pointed the gun at his head and pulled the trigger, deputies say. It turns out the pistol worked well enough to send a .25 caliber bullet into his skull.

The 20-year-old was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was expected to recover.

Roberts' girlfriend, Ambert Howell, also 20, was not injured. The accidental shooting occurred in the kitchen of their one-bedroom apartment at 07 145th Avenue, and alcohol was involved, according to deputies.

3am...alcohol...gun. What's really odd, and not mentioned, is you can't own a handgun in Florida until you're 21. The victim and gun owner was 20. Unless they changed the rules, I guess.

2. Not Darwin Awards
If you live its "Stupid Human trick", you have to permanently remove yourself from the gene pool to qualify for a Darwin.

18. You can still qualify for a Darwin, even if you don't die.
The catch is that you have to destroy your ability to reproduce (thus removing yourself from the gene pool). So a bullet through the genitals could qualify for a Darwin when a bullet in the head might not.

16. Bingo.

Sad they are reporting it as an "accident," bc now people will laugh at him. Which is the last thing a suicidal person needs. :(

4. Same thing happened to an old boss's son, gunshot wound to the head
Unfortunately his incident was fatal. They do know for sure he was under the influence but it was never disclosed or maybe unknown if it was an accident or suicide

5. Well, you know what they say...
When something works, don't change it.

Of course, people always change things, thinking it'll be cheaper. Even to this day, that little train of thought is about as reliable as a 2 day weather forecast. :eyes:

6. I was once told to sharpen a scythe. I said, "How sharp?" Ranch boss looked
at me a minute and then said "Oh, about sharp enough to cut your finger." Now, frankly, I considered that a useless bullshit answer. I set out to sharpen the scythe. I decided the grinder was too coarse so I used a file. After about five minutes of filing, I got tired, my hand slipped and -- I accidentally cut my finger. So I knew I was done!

Not a sterling moment ...

8. Sad. Stupid, but sad. Glad he survived. But you have to wonder
what would have happened if he'd have had a gun in his other hand, too? Could he have shot himself in time to prevent his shooting himself?

Probably also jumps up and down on TNT plungers that don't work.
