I've wanted one for some time, and may actually get one this year. Is that a 4001? Have you played them enough to notice any difference between different models and years of production?

80. Mine is a 1992.

I have only demo'd others in the shop, but the feel and tone seems very consistent with mine. Rics are pretty well made, and it appears to me that their consistency is high. The neck through construction gives them great sustain, and contributes to the overall quality. Not the best slap bass, but it works in a pinch.

The only gripe I have with it is the body binding. It is a very acute angle all the way around the body. My playing style is fairly high up, so when I rest my forearm on the upper bout it starts cutting into my arm by the end of a set. My other main performing axe is a Fender P Bass Deluxe, so switching to it's contoured body saves my arm.

I play through an Ampeg SVT III with a 15 bottom and a 2-10 top. I use Elixer mediums. I like the Elixers for blues as they have a bit warmer tone.

me and a bunch of guys from work volunteered to do a calender for the MSPCA to raise money for the animal hospital. Me and Miles were October. He was adopted and has a very nice home now.
