(for those in an non-Famous Daves area, they make bar-b-que)

It's in a former steakhouse location. It is not the closest FD to our house, but it's new, so we want to check it out.

I have to admit, there's something wierd about the inflatable pig atop the building, who is smiling and wearing a chef's hat. Whether it is disquieting enough to make me order brisket instead of ribs or pulled pork remains to be seen.

Beer and cornbread are definitely in the near future.

2. Just got back!

I got the 2 meat combo (brisket & chopped pork). My kid got brisket, my wife got a burger, and the little kid got that bbq specialty, Kraft Mac & Cheese.

Much beer was used to wash all this down, an extra side of cornbread was enjoyed. The place was packed, but the service was great. We finished with a Kahlua Walnut Brownie (topped with ice cream and whipped cream).

4. Famous Daves is good, but my local BBQ place smokes them!
Yes, it's a bad pun, but Fat Daddy's out BBQ's Famous Daves handily.

5. Most local places probably do but Famous Dave's is pretty good for a chain
I like their sauce. My kids and I always order rib tips which are really good.

7. I'll agree with you.
I've never been disappointed with a Famous Daves meal, though the service at their Cedar Point location was just a wee bit slow (and it wasn't on a busy day).

My local place is a dry rub joint, sauce is available on the side, and completely unnecessary (IMHO, at least).

but Famous Dave's does a really good job :-)

In the River City area, I also like Skeeter Barnes. They are sauce minimalists, choosing to do most items nekkid.

My fave of faves (for atmosphere as much as the food) is Fat Matt's in Atlanta, GA.

Fiorella's Jack Stack in KC is really good, but (in fairness) I have not been to Arthur Bryant's.

I have found, generally, that BBQ is a divider, not a uniter.

Texas? KC? Memphis?.. or for really vicious arguments, get into the whole Georgia mustard based sauce versus Carolina vinegar based sauce debate.
