HELP! with a HP 2200 fax machine.
I have a HP 2200 printer, copier, fax and scanner. I have no problem with the printer or copier. I can send faxes but I couldn't receive them. According to the manual, if you have a telephone answering machine (which I do) you have to program it to ring 4 or less times (I'm programmed for 3 rings). The manual also says that the telephone/answering machine has to be connected to the port on the HP 2200. I connected my telephone/answering machine to the phone port but got a message on the fax saying "phone off the hook". Finally, in desperation, I disconnected my telephone/answering machine from the HP port and hooked it up to where it used to be. I also turned off my answering machine. Now I can get a fax but I can't use my answering machine. Any ideas on which I'm doing wrong?

3. Try here
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=prodhomes&h_lang=en&h_cc=us&h_product=hppsc2210s79497&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&cc=us
The 3 listed are the only ones for the 2200 series. The fax portion is likely the same as yours. Follow the links to what you're looking for.

4. Disconnect your regular phone for a minute
Plug the phone line from the wall into the HP PSC.

Try to dial-out a fax then.

Your phone might not be able to pass a signal through itself into the PSC.

Are you sure that this HP machine doesn't need its own dedicated line?

5. There is a phone line from the hp to the wall and
I can send faxes but couldn't receive them until I turned off by answering machine. The hp does not need a separate phone line.
