We got OktoberKid's school clothing vouchers in the mail a few days ago, so now we need to find a ride to the store so we can buy his school clothes before they've been picked over too much. He's at the "default kid" size--the one between 8/10 and 10/12 that seems to last for three years, and it's HARD to find clothes in his size when every other Mom out there is looking for the same sizes that I am. This is even more of an issue with shoes.

I'm a bit surprised that the vouchers are still the same amount that they have been for the past few years, though. $200 for each kid. With prices going up, you'd think they'd have adjusted a bit for inflation. Ah well--hopefully everyone will be having really awesome sales. *fingers crossed*

Anybody relatively local with a car wanna come go school clothes shopping with us?

We just got his supply list, too.

3rd Grade:
Crayons
Scissors and glue sticks
1 double-sided pocket folder
Spiral notebook
Wide-ruled loose leaf paper
Pencils and zipper pouch
Pencil sharpener
1 box Ziplock bags (gallon-sized)
Hand sanitizer
Box of tissues

Have you gotten your kids' supply lists yet?

1. We got ours with the report card and other stuff on the last day of school.
It's about 15-20 items long, mostly the usual stuff, with way too much precision ("preferably" ticonderoga pencils, for instance...who cares? She's in first grade).

I am not sure what "Two (2) Boxes of Snack" means. (That was the extent of the instruction on that one.) Since when is "Snack" a stand-alone, articleless word like that? Plus, the list did not specify quantity, nutrition requirements, nut-free requirements or anything. It's supposed to go into the community pile and be used for the whole class...can "snack" be a big vat of pretzels, or must it be a box of individually wrapped something-or-others?

2. If I were you, I'd go with
fruit juice gummies and one of those multi-pack boxes of Goldfish crackers. Those are always big hits with the kidlets.
