Anybody see "Mad Men" last night? |
|
Season opener last night. This show is still amazing--acting, writing, directing.
I don't think a show has garnered this many Emmy nominations in its first season since Picket Fences. Great show!
(in case you haven't watched it yet, but plan to...almost 15 months have passed since the 1st season's finale)

2. Watched the whole first season on On Demand in te days before last night's season premier... |
|
I gotta say, I was a little disappointed in Sunday's show. Season 1 gave me very high expectations, and it didn't quite live up to them. But, I'll still be watching. I'm sure it'll get good as it goes on.

3. Agreed, it was not a wham-bang the way the final two episodes were... |
|
But then IIRC the 1st season opener wasn't either. Sometimes the show is slow and deliberate, and sometimes it's "Holy &%#@!"
Can't have too many bombshells in the opener, since there are new viewers who'd be confused. Still, there were a couple...(swipe for spoilers) Sal's gf/wife, the newly-assertive Betty....
A joy to watch.

4. Good points, though there were hints of your second point in season one... |

recall her behavior in the control booth of the radio ad.

5. You're thinking of Peggy (the former secretary now copywriter) |
|
Betty is Don's wife.
But agreed about Peggy too.

7. I watched the marathon last weekend and the premier last night. It's sooooo good. |
|
Amazingly understated, which is such a rarity in this day and age. Subtle, which is also rare. And I think it's nailed the time period.

8. we watched the whole first season on DVD this weekend |
|
and thought it was great. Last night's episode was good--a little less happening than I expected going in, but they had to recap a year and change without being obvious about it, and I thought they did that pretty well ...
