Historic is not a synonym for dilapidated.
The game is being played in run-down Yankee Stadium. That's not to say old ballparks can't be beautiful...Fenway is a gem, Tiger Stadium probably had 10 more good years left in it, Wrigley is still one of the best places I've ever seen a game, Dodger Stadium is classic.
Yankee Stadium reminds me of bad 1970s industrial-utilitarian design. It was probably better pre-renovation. If you're going to spend that much money to ruin your ballpark...just build a new one.
