One of these characters was born not far from my birthplace, way outside the United States.

Funny thing is, looking at pictures of some of these people, some appear far older or far younger than others. Genes, the way they live, plastic surgery...who knows, but the difference can be quite marked and is more often than not apparent in more intrinsic ways such as how they carry themselves and how they interact in interviews and the like.
