6. that's quite an ambitious dinner |
|
for a spur of the moment thing.
If I have anything more involved than toasting a bagel, it's a big deal for me.

7. I made a cajun stir fry with a tiny little pork chop and some celery, bell pepper |
|
okra, onion garlic and a yellow squash.
It was pretty good. The cajun spice mix I get from the bulk bin at my market is very handy.
I sliced the okra thin and dry fried it with the cajun spices first, then took it out of the pan and cooked the rest of the stuff.
I don't know what Indian style okra is from your point of view but the first time I ever ate okra that wasn't deep fried was at an Indian buffet..it had been cooked tender crisp, sliced thinly and was combined with skinny green beans and tomato in a curry seasoning of some kind or another. It was fabulous. Also significant in that I have had a life long aversion to okra due to being forced to try it when it had been boiled (looks like snakes) and never ate it willingly until someone offered me fried, which I do like a lot.
Now I put it in vegetable soup (just a little bit) and this new cajun stir fry thing I adapted from a dish served in the cafeteria at my last employer
I don't think your meal is weird at all. If you had gone to Indian buffet, and chosen those things it wouldn't have been odd ...
