and I think all the extra size of our cars here is being sucked out of their's, because as ours keep getting bigger, their's keep getting smaller. They have a new car called the Smart (Daimer-Chrysler) that's so small, I saw it being parked perpendicular to the curbs on city streets and it didnt protrude into traffic more than the width of other, relatively small, coups. Shows the culpability ultimately lies upon the consumer.

6. The SMART cars already exist in Germany

They're pretty cool, actually. The tires can pivot at the press of a button and you can drive sideways to park in a very tight parking spot.

The downside is that they are forbidden on the Autobahn because there is no structural protection in the front of the car.
