It sucks when one is so far away when these things happen. I hope all are okay and you hear from them soon.

2. They're okay, L., I just want to be with them. |

This is the first biggish one since I left home. The first one that has the whole lower portion of the state buzzing. It's strange: it's a big community event. The housing tract streets are full of neighbors standing in driveways & sidewalks, talking about it.
Sigh.
Thanks.

3. I'm in the Bay Area now but yeah...I know what you mean.. |

I spent my high school and young(er) adult years in Chino Hills and my dad only lives 5 miles away from the epicenter. I still have lots of family and friends in SoCal.
You know what's kinda sadistic, though? I kinda wanted to feel it, too. I haven't felt a decent sized shaker in a long time. They're pretty exciting. The only part I don't like is the fear of it being a foreshock to something larger.

i was at a Fry's in Fremont and it was quite the experience, watching the shelves loaded with heavy cr@p swaying. i think it was on the Calaveras Fault so you might not be in that area.

7. Actually, I felt that one... |
|
I was in Campbell at the time. It didn't feel incredibly strong to me though...maybe it was because I was in a huge restaurant with very high ceilings. To me, it was one of those, "Wait, is this an earthquake I'm feeling?" type of earthquakes. There have been some others that I've felt (the 6.0 Sierra Madre quake in 1991, for example) where there was no mistaking what it was once it started. That one was a rattler. I don't like the rattlers...I prefer the rollers.

but it sure did roll, especially if you were in those parts of the EB that aren't exactly on terra firma. i counted two sizable rolls.
