Well, this week as been a wicked pissah so far |
|
the only good news is that I found a 2005 West Virginia quarter with a die break in my pocket change.
The rest has been down hill since.
Oh, well, there's always next week...

3. Didn't get around to mention the bad news, did I? |
|
Let's see...
Okay, let's start with a murder, less than 1/2 mile from my house.
Heard the gun shots at 2:00Am through my open window this weekend.
Two dead.
Then, on the other side of the continent, my brother-in-law's truck defaced, and my mother-in-law called Nigger lovers to their face, for helping their wheelchair bound black neighbor.
Cupertino CA police does squat.
Back on the eastern seaboard, son gets fired form job as nurse local in hospital. Allegedly, for not working hard enough to improve.
Translation: not playing the game and keeping mouth shut about patient safety violations.
Life goes on...

10. Wow. I am very sorry. |
|
:(
Those are definitely horrible events.
I hope that blatant racism is an exception, and your BIL and MIL are surrounded by good people overall. I really hope that kind of threatening behavor doesn't happen again.
It would be really nice if the police took it seriously. Over the last 15 years I've gradually lost any faith I used to have in police departments. The bullies and bad apples predominate. The system protects them, and coerces the few good cops to say and do nothing against the bad ones.
I hope your son gets a better job somewhere else quickly. I used to work in the telecom office at a hospital here in NYC. Even on the back end in a support department we saw the way cost-cutting lead to short-cuts, and people got promoted by kissing ass and embracing every possible short cut. If I have an emergency, friends and family know not to take me to that hospital. Others might be just as bad, but I've seen to much at that one to trust it.
As for the murder, I hope you stay safe. I hope the murderer gets caught, and the police don't just grab some convenient scapegoat they can coerce and railroad. It would be really nice if you had some real safety and protection in your neighborhood.
Wow. I sound a bit pessimistic and bitter today. Sorry about that. I really do hope for the best for you and your family though.

Coming from you, that really means a lot to me.
I mean that sincerely.
The murder is still under investigation. There were some survivors of the incident, who can hopefully finger the culprits. One of the victims was a 37 year old father of three.
My MIL and BIL are considering going to the NAACP, to get some attention on this incident.
My son is still reeling from the shock, But we're here to back him up. Once he's back on his feet, he can finger those bastards.
But first thing is getting another job...

7. You sound just like my husband used to. |

I never much thought about it and now I check my change every single time. Just like he did. One time he bought 3 rolls of silver dimes off the corner Shell station because he could tell by the way they hit the drawer.
