Can somebody please tell me what I did wrong? |
|
I was on Google Advanced Image Search looking for a photo of something. Clicked to get a better view of the image and got a message to the effect of: "YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO VIEW". As I hit back, I got this message: "YOUR ISP HAS BEEN RECORDED!!!!"
What great sin did I commit?
It was a photo of a type of food, for crying out loud -- not * in the buff or anything gross like that!
Thanks, all.

They make you feel like your security has been violated, and tell you to click here for more information and then attempt to sell you some kind of protection software. Happened to me before.

They don't have your ISP. Sometimes if you try to access a part of a site that you don't have access priveliges to, they try to scare you with that warning.

5. Doesn't mean a damn thing |

Your "ISP" gets recorded everywhere you go. As does your IP address.
Something to think about

6. I've gotten something like that before... |
|
and it was an ad for anti-tracking software or somesuch. They probably did record your ISP so they could send you spam...

7. Were you at work? They sometimes have software that |
|
keeps you looking at certain sites. Another possibility is you accidently got the wrong URL or their security is not set up correctly. And yes, they can get your isp if they want it. That's very easy to do.

8. Just another way to say "no hyperlinking"... |
|
Google's image search sends you straight to the image, not through the webpage that's got the image.
People who are worried about their bandwidth getting hijacked can put in a little routine (sort of like the Fortunecity image substitution thingy) that gives you something else when you try to go straight to the image.
And yeah, "YOUR ISP HAS BEEN RECORDED" is a nonsense statement. Your IP address may have been logged, but it's quite a little journey from knowing an IP number to knowing the ISP.
