3. I think you are right.
Bummer.

I would sure rather duke it out with the Tigers than the White Sox.

4. Frickin' Yankees.
What's that? Posada out for the year? We'll get ANOTHER all-star catcher.

5. lol, so the Yanks sign another aging player past his prime?
I've never understood their fascination with big name players who are now past their prime. First Morgan Ensberg, then Richie Sexson, now Pudge.

8. don't underestimate Pudge
Seriously.

He still has a few miles left on him. And he can flat out play.

11. oh, i love pudge, but he's WAY beyond his power years
he's sitting at 5 hr and 32 rbis. If they want defense I can see it, but it's almost like they HAVE to get the old name players as opposed to getting that young catcher they can develop over years and years.

19. Idk, Jeter, Rivera, Posada, and O'Neil were players they developed
so they can do it, they just choose not to. It's like they feel they need to placate their fan base by saying "Look who we just got!"

And Tino Martinez was there a while. Soriano couldn't behave, so he left.

36. One small correction:
They acquired Paul O'Neill in a trade from the Cincinnati Reds for Roberto Kelly.

You can add Robbie Cano to the list of home-grown talent.

20. That is because they platooned him with that idiot Inge.
Yes, Pudge still has his power and he can still catch better than most of the league. I am pissed off about this.

23. Then it completely pisses me off when they say Pudge has lost
his power. Look at the power rankings for catchers this year. Grrrr... This is going to rip this town's sports forums apart. There are the people who realized that Pudge was glue for this team, and still a heck of a player...and then there are those who are idiots.

25. He doesn't need power years.
The Yankees aren't looking for an all-star catcher. Posada is out for the season, so this could be helpfull. It's too bad they had to give up Farnsworth.

We don't need no stinking Farnsworth. Tigers decision making sucks...again.

And they're not really in contention. They were probably pretty certain that he wouldn't be on the team next year. At least they got a decent pitcher for him.

34. I think you need to look at the standings. Ummm, they really are in
contention. I follow the entire league. This is a stupid decision (ala Sean Casey). Vance Wilson, backup c for Tigers=out, possibly forever. Brandon Inge, current c (god that makes me sick) well my son can hit better than him. Farnsworth? Meh.
