While it is a letdown from the original Tippett and crew get the most out of the limited budget and make a mostly entertaining if flawed follow up.

4. There was a 2.

It was a straight-to-video SINO (Sequel in name only) that got very poor reveiws and is universally hated by fans of the first film.

ST3, on the other hand, brings back many of the characters and plot lines from the first film, and is supposed to be much better than 2.

6. ST #1 was great in a very stupid way.

Humanity was saved by Denise Richards and Neil Patrick Harris.

I love rampaging giant bug movies anyway.

8. I liked two things about that movie:

1. The bugs managed two sneak attacks using the same strategy.

2. No one ever figured out that bullets didn't stop the bugs. Why not flame throwers or grenades?

9. If you watch the movie as a parody (which I'm sure Verhoeven intended)...

it's actually a pretty classic piece of cinema.

It foretold the media's and public's reaction to the war on terra four years before it happened.
