It's Summer and I'm making Iced Tea. Here's a really good method... |

well, I think it's a good method, anyway.
3 bags of regular old Lipton tea (or your favorite dark tea) 3 bags of Bigelow "Orange & Spice" 3 bags of Bigelow "Lemon Lift" (Once in a while I'll use Bigelow's Apple & Spice) For stronger tea, use more bags (obviously)
Boil 4 cups of water. Not too much as you want to make a concentrate. Tie the bags together near the tabs and plunk in the rapidly boiling water.
Let it boil for a couple minutes then turn off the heat. Let the bags steep for a good 5 minutes, plunking them up and down a couple times during this period.
Fill a pitcher with ice. Pour the concentrated tea over the ice and fill the pitcher up with cold water. If you like sweet tea, add the sugar to the hot pot before pouring it over the ice. (don't forget to stir)
Voila!
I prefer this over the Sun Tea method because it's faster.
My apologies to any tea purists who might take issue with any of the above procedure, but it really does taste good doing it this way.
Edited to add that in hindsight, this may very well be the biggest "DUH" post of my entire online life.
Well, maybe not, but close. An Iced Tea recipe? Damn, I must be bored as hell. Time to make a martini.
Next up, a martini thread.

I suppose I could make one, but I've never tried.
When I make a martini, I like them up, with a twist. Don't even SAY the word "olive" near my martini.
I keep my Vodka in the freezer. Start with ice in the glass with water to chill the glass.
Ice in the shaker. Pour a wee dram of Vermouth over the ice and pour it back off. Pour in the Vodka. Shake well Prep a lemon rind Empty the glass of the ice water, shake dry and twist the lemon rind into the empty glass. You should see the oils spritz all over the inside of the glass. Rub the twist around the rim and drop in the glass. Strain the Vodka into the glass. If it's properly cold, it will almost have the consistency of syrup.
BTW, whoever gave this thread a rec, thanks. That's very flattering.

4. I have always made my tea that way, even if not using the Bigelow teas |
|
as part of the mix. That sounds pretty good
As for me, I take 5 PG Tips bags, and fill up my 8 cup Pyrex measuring cup with water Microwave 6 minutes
add sugar if I am making it sweet, stir it up a bit and pour into a 2 quart pitcher, leaving the wet teabags in the Pyrex cup
Fill the Pyrex cup with cool tap water, and add to the hot tea in the pitcher.
Stir and serve over ice. Sometimes I do the pour hot over the cold ice bit. It seems to come out about the same
