New CD thread! Show me yours, and I'll show mine!
Just got a bunch of new cds today - I'm all over the spectrum musically, as my newly aquired bunch will attest to.

I have:

Fat Joe - Jealous Ones Still Envy

Annie Lennox - Bare

Missy Elliot - Under Construction

Beth Orton - Pass In Time

Run-DMC - Greatest Hits

The Cars - Complete Greatest Hits

Missy Elliot - Miss E ... So Addictive

Stevie Nicks - Trouble In Shagri-la

Beth Orton - Central Reservation

Phil Collins - ...Hits

Taj Mahal - Blues With A Feeling

Eric Clapton - Reptile

I also ordered one more Taj Mahal and a Keb Mo that I didn't get - and I'm bummed as those were the ones I was looking most forward to. Ah well - got one Taj, anyway.

What new tunes do YOU have?

10. LedZep ALWAYS rocks -
and I think Korn is pretty cool but I don't have anything by them. I have some Tool though-

I don't know the other 2 you mentioned. I'll have to check into them.

2. Hey, You Only TOLD Me About Yours
Here's my most recent CD:

Steely Dan, Everything Must Go.

And what a good CD it is. I am ecstatic that Donald and Walter are back.

9. Not nearly as eclectic as the entire collection!
I love music of ALL kinds - I used to say I HATED country, and mostly, I still do, but I love Willie Nelson, and I discovered I actually like the Dixie Chicks after buying a cd of theirs in support of their animosity towards GW when the radio stations stopped playing them.

I don't care for Christian music (although Van Morrison, for example, does quite a few religous flavored songs, and I love him), and I don't like overly synthasized music or really hardcore metal thrash, as a rule.

Everything else is fair game... :)

6. re: Beth Orton
I have a habit of checking out the cheap $2 cds in the Columbia House/ BMG music clubs. If I see something that seems interesting, I go to Amazon, look up the disc, and see what the reviews say. If it sounds like something I'd like I go back to BMG/CH and buy it.

That's how I ended up with Beth Orton, Daybreaker. I LOVE her! So I just ordered the 2 I mentioned.

I've never heard of the other 2 you mentioned though - the one thing that sucks about eclectic musical tastes is that there is always WAY more music I want than I can get at once :)

Some others on my to-get list:

Maren Ord - Waiting
Marty Stuart - The Pilgrim (I'll get it one of these days, NSMA!)
Thea Gilmore - Rules For Jokers (older CD of hers)
More Dar Williams CDs
Maybe Kenny Chesney's new CD - he has certainly improved lately
Sarah McLachlan's Afterglow
Wrens - Meadowlands
Thinking about Carina Round's Disconnection

and others.

11. Just got
Indigo Girls - All That We Let In: This is one of thir best! After all these years, they continue to be fresh while retaining the things I love about them.

Thea Gilmore - Avalanche: Absolutely amazing CD! She beats most of the young, female pop/rockers who are out today. The only one who competes with her so far IMO is Michelle Branch. But her style is very different than any of the pop/rockers. Her voice reminds me of Annie Lennox's. The style is minimalistic but fully realized folk-rock with Dylan-esque edgy rock.

14. Venus Hum, Wolfsheim
Venus Hum -- "Big Beautiful Sky"
Wolfsheim -- "Casting Shadows"

I've been playing both albums a lot. Great synth-pop music.

I purchased the Venus Hum album from ITunes. I like ITunes, $9.99 for most CDs, and with a broadband connection songs are downloaded quickly. I also use Real Rhapsody, which is better for just having access to a huge library of music and listening to it from your computer. The process to d/l and burn a CD isn't as smooth as it is with ITunes. But hey, when you can access the "Pet Sounds" box set and listen to every single song, I think it's worth the $9.99 monthly subscription fee.
