"Legal Alternatives" to Marijuana

Being an occasional MJ smoker, I see these advertisements sometimes in the literature I read and have always thought of them to be a scam.

However, a friend of mine has heard that they are legitimate and do "work".

Anyone around here ever try these "alternatives"?

7. Tried Salvia Divinorum

Or whatever it is called...I renamed it "saliva divinorum" because I caught myself drooling into my shirt and feeling numb all over.

If there was a good alternative, everybody would be using it.

Is not really supposed to be a cannabis alternative.. (at least that I was aware)....

.. it is supposedly it's own dissociative type psychedelic.

10. I tried salivia

it was kind of like getting hit by a train. I was in my house, and all of the sudden I didn't know where I was or what was happening. It's not a gradual thing like lsd where you slowly come on.

If anyone tries it, have some very trusted friends with you. I sure won't be doing it again.

It is very weird. I found it neither pleasant nor unpleasant. Harsh to smoke, nasty to chew. The 5x extract is where it starts to get interesting. You hold in the smoke for about 30 seconds and gradually you realize your thoughts aren't making any sense. Then you think, why didn't I see this before? A spherical hole into another dimension opens up in front of my abdomen, warping space around it. Of course, it's so obvious. It's been there all along, I could just never see it. This effect lasts about 5 minutes, then there are about 20-30 minutes of mildly altered state, which is a little like sitting on a magic fingers bed...neither pleasant nor unpleasant. I've never had a bad experience, but I took it slow, with caution, after hearing stories about people jumping right in to a 10x extract with an attitude like, yeah right, this won't do anything--then getting scared out of their wits or doing something stupid. If you just sit there and realize that everything will be fine in a few minutes, you'll be okay. It's not for everybody, though.

12. The best Legal Alternative: move to the UK where it's been

downgraded to Category C: ie they won't bust you for possession of a reasonable amount (up to one ounce) but might caution you and confiscate the booty AND they won't bust you for smoking at home.

London has been AWASH with high grade weed at about £90 per oz since January 29 when the new category started.....

14. I heard that these substances can be unhealthy

I seem to remember reading anarticle in cannabis culture discouraging people from using these substances. Unlike marijuana, which is illegal, these legal substances can be harmful.
As far as things that feel similiar, Xanax comes to mind. Other than that the good feeling that lasts a while after the peak high feels sort of like how good exercise can feel. You know, runner's high.
