Matthew Sweet fans - A question
This has been bugging me for a long time.

The cover of the Girlfriend CD has a photo of Tuesday Weld on it. What was MS's reason for choosing her likebess to grace his CD? BTW I play this CD regularly and love it.

but I know that in order to use her photo he had to change the title from "Nothing Lasts" to "Girlfriend".

She's on the cover of his compilation CD.

Another big Matthew Sweet fan here!

4. I believe that Sweet once said that he used her photo......
because Weld represented (and I'm paraphrasing) 'fragile beauty'.
Weld having committed suicide at some point prior to the album's release.

I'm a HUGE fan of this particular release. When I finally got down to taking the guitar seriously, this was the album that I tried to emulate. Richard Lloyd and Robert Quine playing on the same album, how can you go wrong?

7. That can't be right.
"Girlfriend" came out around 1992 or so, and she was in "Feeling Minnesota" just a few years after that. Another check shows her in two films as late as 2001.

I think Tuesday is still with us. Must have been another fragile beauty actress like Jean Seberg or someone like that.

6. He Has a Collection
of Tuesday Weld photos.

FYI, the original album titles was due to be Nothing Lasts, but he had to change the name in order to get permission to use the photo.
