Poll question: Most sought after/storied sports trophy
My vote is for the Stanley cup, because it is the only championship that was around for years before the league it is awarded in was. Plus it was given to Canada by Lord Stanley as a way to unite the country. Somehow the NHL stole it.

1. I always thought the Green Jacket in golf was kinda cool
Not really a trophy, per say, but it's kinda dorkishly fashionable.

LIke in England, whenever you play soccer for your country you get a cap.

3. The UEFA Cup?
It's a meaningless one. Now the (soccer) World Cup is sort after and storied - for instance, it really was stolen, and then found by a dog called Pickles.

11. Used to own a sailboat
Cal20 on Lake St. Clair. But I donated ti to chrity a couple years ago. I still love to sail though--I discovered it's better to know boat owners than own a boat!

10. Without a doubt its the Stanley Cup
the stories about what has been done with the cup would make up great volumes of work, its tradition is long and interesting and its a trophy recognized around the world.

12. Nothing more defining than an Olympic gold medal
Tens of thousands of athletes who have never heard of Lord Stanley's cup or Augusta green are in training for Olympic gold as I type this.

Same medal, shared by tiny gymnasts and sumu-like wrestlers. It links generations, continents, languages, even summer and winter.

I attend Olympic Games whenever possible. Wish I could adequately describe two gold winners (or any medal) rejoicing together at an Olympic nightspot. Displaying their trophies and forming an instant bond, even if they can't understand a word of the other's language and will probably never meet again.
