Elder Bush big man on campus at Texas A&M
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/02/20/elec04.cv.texas/index.html

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (CNN) -- Former President George H.W. Bush is a frequent visitor to Texas A&M University, but many students said his high visibility on the campus won't influence their decisions in the 2004 presidential election.

"I just saw today," sophomore Lela Flores said after Bush and his wife, former first lady Barbara, made a February 17 appearance to promote her book "Reflections: Life After the White House."

"I feel that his constant visits to A&M just show his support for our campus," Flores added.

The father of the current president not only roams the campus, but he also has erected A&M's George Bush School of Government and Public Service, the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the Bush Foundation.

He lectures regularly at the Bush School, has attended every graduation ceremony since the school's opening and helps bring notable figures such as Secretary of State Colin Powell and Sen. Edward Kennedy to the campus

1. Are you trying to make me lose my breakfast?
:puke:

Texas A&M Class of 1990 here. :hi: Poppy spoke to a graduating class while I was a student, probably in 1988 while he was still VP. Blech...his former CIA Director is now President of the University.

2. A&M is a CIA front.

(Caveat-Not all Aggies are Nazis. See post #1.)

They received the largest grant from the bushler administration for "homeland security research". What exactly ARE they researching in the homeland security labs?!?!

The president of A&M is a former director of the CIA.

The school largely is a cult of willfull ignorance and adherence to bizarre "traditions" of mindless groupthink (proletarian mass skull and bones lite).

I know that there are good DU members who are aggie ex-students and are rational human beings and therefore exceptions to the rule, but the institution itself is highly suspect as a breeding ground for radical right wing ideologues and future black ops technicians.

3. Actually, you aren't far from the truth...
...the school has always been a little right of center, but lately, they have gone to extremes. I haven't been back since 1998, and have no real desire to. Now, some of the bars near campus...that's a different story - the Chicken rules! :D

4. Poppy spoke at my graduation
A&M spring '99 College of Liberal Arts

No big deal, just your generic 'go do good things' speech. It was pretty brief, thankfully.
