I don't care about it. I don't want to see it. I could live the rest of my life without seeing it.

Am I some sort of weird, pinko, godless commie fag because of my apathy towards this ridiculously overhyped ego project of Mel's?

1. For some reason I dont think you're indifferent
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 01:17 PM by Kamika

Anyone who says that if they're indifferent they must be a commie or pinko automaticly says that the movie is suposedly RW. And that ain't indifference

4. personally, I can take it or leave it
I may see it, I may not. I think it will pale in comparison to 'The Last Temptation of Christ' which I thought was excellent.

either way, I'm indifferent to it, so you're not alone.

As usual, I think people are making a mountain out of a molehill, but hey that's par for the course these days.

5. Nope, nothing is wrong with you.
I feel the same way. Maybe it's because I'm an atheist and could care less about Jesus.

7. No
I wish more people shared your attitude. Wanna see it? Fine. Don't wanna see it? Fine.

That should be the end of the story. Its a movie, nothing more.

Instead, its getting enormous publicity because of the reaction, which will drive viewership through the roof. I'll bet Mel's accountants are having a field day!

11. Roger Ebert said it's a "must see" film.
Well, Roger, it sure isn't a "must see" film as far as I'm concerned.

Plus, when you have Mel's father making some purile comments about the Holocaust re: this movie...more publicity.

17. I disagree - his review sure didn't sound like it was a "must see"

One clip:

"the film is the most violent I have ever seen. It will probably be the most violent you have ever seen. This is not a criticism but an observation; the film is unsuitable for younger viewers, but works powerfully for those who can endure it. The MPAA's R rating is definitive proof that the organization either will never give the NC-17 rating for violence alone, or was intimidated by the subject matter. If it had been anyone other than Jesus up on that cross, I have a feeling that NC-17 would have been automatic."

Note: Ebert also did what I consider a huge cop-out:

"I prefer to evaluate a film on the basis of what it intends to do, not on what I think it should have done."

In other words, I don't think this is how it should have been done, but I'll rate it based on what Mel had in mind. :eyes:

As my wife said, that means ever Adam Sandler movie should be rated at 4 stars, because Adam's intent was to look like an idiot. Mission accomplished. 4 stars.

I have no interest in it either.

But then again, I am very weird. So maybe you are weird for not wanting to see it. :)

Just more over hyped tripe by the media to distract the everyday joe and to fill in their 24 so called news. Hell they have to talk about something and clintons penis has long been out of favor

13. What? You don't want to participate in Mel's sadomasochistic romp?
Gee Terry, I can't imagine why not !

Honestly, I'd much rather watch two hours of Laurel and Hardy comedy classics than suffer through Mel's agonized movie.

Good for you to eschew (dig the big word) this bloated bit of Mr. Gibson's personal "therapy."

Here's to ya -- :toast:

so that bugs me. Otherwise the only thing that seems to be noteworthy about it is the graphic, and prolonged, violence. There's nothing particularly new in the assertion that Jesus died horribly and like most people I'm pretty much desensitized to violence on film.
Likewise there doesn't seem to any big deal to the notion that Jesus was put to death by authorities who were either largely indifferent (Pilate) or looking for political expediency (Caiaphas), or for that matter corrupt capriciousness (Herod).

I can't see where current day politics could come in to this. Nevertheless that is not a good enough reason for me to see it.

16. It's beyond me
I just heard that a man spent $42,000 of his own money to provide free tickets for people to see this movie. These same type of people probably never have a single thought about taking the price of a movie ticket and donating to a homeless shelter, Habitat for Humanity, Feed the Children or something that can really make a difference. Everything important that Jesus taught.

There is a total lack of any discussion about whether Mel "Mad Max" Gibson is going to follow Jesus' example and try to make a difference with some of the millions he will make off this movie.

Screwed up priorities.

18. Not at all.
I have never seen a movie get so much free press.

I have no interest in sitting through 100 minutes of excruciatingly detailed violence (the 100 minutes is Roger Ebert's estimate of the violence component, in a 126-minute movie), regardless of the topic.

20. Just another Jeezus movie
The only thing unique about this one is that it's in Aramaic, and it was bankrolled by a mentally ill ex-matinee idol. The media is attempting to MAKE a contoversy around this film when it's not really there.
