It must be said; "The Fully Monty" is a great movie. |
|
It never fails to make me laugh my ass off.
"So your daddy dances in front of you, does he?" "Only when he's rehearsing."
"Gentlemen the lunchbox has landed!"

Nothing more than a portable story.
Trainspotting was a much better film.

But The Full Monty is so funny. Of course Trainspotting is a betterfilm, and I find there is a big difference (in my head at least) between "movies" and "films." Or maybe I'm crazy?
Although both movies have Robert Carlyle, which is a plus. I love him pretty much everything he does... except for Eragon, that movie was a travesty.

8. There's a sociopolitical subtext, too |
|
The deindustrialization of northern England and the resulting economic distress.
And it IS very funny.
I'm a Robert Carlyle fan, too. I liked him in Priest, where he plays the title character's gay lover, and in the Hamish Macbeth TV series, where he played a policeman in a small town in Scotland. He was also in an episode of Cracker, playing a much darker and more alienated version of the displaced blue collar worker.
