Warm and sunny, low humidity, deep blue sky that's always a harbinger of fall. I was sunning myself at the pool this afternoon thinking about the Gulf Coast and trying to imagine what it is like to board up your house and leave it; to be ordered out of your city or hometown and fleeing. The contrast between the tranquility and the fear of the destructive force that is barreling through the Gulf is almost mind-boggling.

I got an up close tour of the Katrina devastation in New Orleans eleven months after the storm hit (it looked more like it had been eleven days) and what I saw is now indelibly etched into my brain. I am thinking of all GC residents today, hoping you are safe and will stay safe, that the levees hold, and that the nightmare of 2005 doesn't repeat itself.

Please, please stay safe. The rest of the country is holding its breath for you. :grouphug:
