Adopting a Declawed Cat
There are several declawed cats up for adoption on Craigslist in my area. I'm considering adopting one of them but my other two cats are fully clawed. They are normally well-behaved but they have been known to take a swing at each other. I'm afraid they might pick on the newcomer, especially if it's defenseless.

Frankly I think it's wrong to remove an animal's claws, and it's certainly wrong to put the animal up for adoption after you've done that. But people are who they are, and it's not the cat's fault. I shouldn't read the pets section of Craigslist. I feel so bad that I want to adopt all of them, including the pathetic pit bull who just needs a little love . . . However, do I have to put declawed cats off my list?

1. My eldest is declawed and lives with a fully clawed Kittimus.

Merlin gets the better of Kittimus every time with one punch of his fore paw and/or a few clawed kicks from behind.

2. One thing to be aware of, a cat's first line of defense(and offense) are its front claws...
Its possible that the reason these cats are up for adoption is that they changed their behavior since becoming declawed, to become biters. This can be dangerous for other animals in your house, in addition to yourself, cat bites, severe ones, are something you do NOT want to go through.
