Jebus my family has been through the ringer. I just found out my other sister was layed off
Do you remember last month when my sister was layed off after 23 years? My other sister after 30
was just layed off from the same place

I am so friking angry here is what her email said

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My news was yesterday at work I got layed off my job. They told me there wasn't enough in the bookkeeping budget for two of us. So they layed me off and kept Heather.

I don't know what they will do she doesn't even know how to do it, guess they will teach her. I guess I was the one to go because I make more money and was there the longest. What they don't understand it wasn't just a job to me it was my LIFE.... It took hubby and me 2 hours to just clean out my office last night!

Well gotta go to the store, just wanted to let you all know. Pray for us at least hubby will be going back to work on Tuesday !!!! Yeah !

++++++++++++++++++++++++++=

that company is going to get an ear full from me on Tuesday

they can not FUCK with peoples lives like that

She has been the book keeper at that place for 30 years and that young heather less than one year. NO one is more devoted to their job than my sister was. She worked many hours, she scheduled her vacation around the billing cycles and even showed the new company how to save money by a system that she

1. not sure what the new company name is
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 01:44 AM by greenbriar
It used to be medical lodges and then the company was bought out
within a month my oldest sister who was a social services something or other ...she took the residents to the doctor appts and hospital stays and did all their personal shopping was layed off.

Now my other sister who had been at that place for ever ...she started as dishwasher and then housekeeper then they hand picked her for book keeper over 25 years ago

they layed her off Friday

her husband was eliminated from his job of 30 years earlier this year when IBP/Tyson meats closed (he drove 50 miles to and from work each day) then he got on at Hawker Beech, made it through his training and probabion and they went on strike...but the strike is over and they are back to work Tuesday...thank God...

Man Loyalty and dedication doesn't stand for SHIT anymore

GOD I am so pissed

2. Instead of writing a note, help her file an age discrimination suit

4. Usually
If the fired/laid off worker is over 40 and the retained worker with less seniority is under 40, you have a case. The greater the age disparity, the stronger the case.

There are many helpful websites for this.

Good luck to you all!

6. Your sisters may have an age discrimination claim cooking here --
sounds like just the old-timers are being kicked. Big no-no unless it's a tiny company (don't they own several locations?).

8. Wanna see how DEDICATED my sis is. This shows her Character
after they layed her off, she stayed for 2 hours trying to write out everything she could think of to help "heather" do the job.

I told her DO NOT DO THAT if they call you and ask you anything DO NOT HELP THEM not even to tell them where the paper clips are

you owe them NOTHING!!!

had it been me, I would have told them FUCK OFF and hope your company ROTS

9. Well, one has to consider the references they'll need to find new employment.

While it's easy to be angry and vindictive, it shows good character and will help her in the future to leave on good terms.

On edit: I wish her well.

10. it does show good character it also shows above and beyond
she could have just left and her character would still speak for itself

what she did was so far ABOVE and beyond that it speaks VOLUMES

This is a small town of 2500 people and the ENTIRE town is shocked and pissed.

Several people are actually going to pull their relatives from the home as soon as they can find a replacement home to put them in...not easy as it is the only nursing home within a 35 mile radius.

Additionally, our mother is in an assisted living facility and was scheduled to go to that home when the time comes. NOT any more. She will come to my town or the town in between my sisters and I

NO way in HELL will she go there
