Poll question: Bravo Echo Echo Charlie Alpha Tango Alpha
Watched Crimson Tide again last night. What a great movie! But what I like best about it is that there's really no clear right or wrong side. Some people act a little crazy, like James Gandolfini's character, but it leaves it open as to who was right and who was wrong.

What do you think?

1. When I watch that movie

I can think of much better ways for the Captain to have handled that situation. He made some very poor decisions, but then so did Hunter.

They were both right, and both wrong.

here is what I would have done if I were captain.

Continued to prepare the ship for missile launch. When ready raise to the surface for that launch but then check the radio BEFORE launching just to make sure.

Also, do something about that Akula Submarine. I would have done NOTHING that had any potential to make ANY noise with that Akula around too, like floating the bouy...Winches make noise.

2. I can tell you right now, that if some asshole like Gandolfini's character tried
to make a crew member do push-ups, they would have told him to "go fuck yourself, sir."

I like that movie, but a dog would NEVER be allowed on a submarine!

You are right about the right / wrong side, though -- it is a tough call.

If I remember correctly, I always felt that the Denzel character was right as the full message was never received (Is that correct? It's been awhile since I saw it.)
