1. I'd bet they're polling and focus grouping like mad today.
They'll get their results together tonight, make a shitpile of phone calls, and decide if they want to keep or ditch her based mostly on who else will take McCain's calls.

If they switcheroo they'll do it tomorrow, because they'll want to have their nominee on stage at the final night of the convention.

3. It'll be this week - especially since she's just hired a lawyer
for "troopergate" (from another GD thread from cnn) -

I've thought from the beginning that she was just a placeholder until the mccain team could cut a deal with one of the expected nominees. They needed an announcement last friday and they had one - knocked the DNC and the great speeches right out of the news....

These are the times I can almost feel sorry for a rethuglican...

I voted for an October Surprise and it
didn't show up.

On edit: Oops, there it is.

All the usually gainfully employed Democrats
must be choking up the system today!

:hi:

6. McCain will wait until October, then try and get some body that can pull his poll numbers up
It won't work though, the Republicans are certifiably toast this election.

7. This does belong in GD:P but I'll bite.
Sarah Palin will not be replaced, she'll be on the ballot, and will stay on the election. Remember this is the GOP we're talking about here, the party of 9/11, Iraq War, Katrina, Crashing House Prices, High Gas Prices, Unaffordable Healthcare, Failed Banks and many more sagas besides.

I really liked Barack's comment about the "Ownership Society" meaning "You're on your own". This amongst other points really need to be pushed.

Mark.
