Nothing but helicopters and sirens all day here in St Paul |
|
My neighborhood is just west of downtown, and is being used as a staging area for some of the protest groups.
I'm in the middle of moving, so I haven't joined in, or gone a few blocks to the cathedral to photograph it.
It's still strange to see sheriff's deputies from towns way out in the Minnesota countryside directing traffic on my streets.
Needless to say, I'll be very glad when this convention is over and life gets back to normal.

1. I'm sure you'll be glad when it's over |

Milwaukee sent officers over. Makes me nervous that our force is down in order to protect the repukes.

2. I went through St. Paul on I-94 yesterday |
|
and saw most of the off-ramps into the downtown area were blocked off with traffic cones and squad cars, and there were chain link fences with barbed wire all along the freeway. Ugly.
I'll be glad when these evil fucks have left town. There should be some sort of exorcism ceremony afterwards.

Those creatures can't conduct a half ass convention without turning it into a Nazi retrospective.

6. I wouldn't be suprised at all if they provoked a scene like the Seattle WTO protests again. |

7. I don't think they have it in them. |

Too many peace protesters committed to being more passive than resistive. The union, environmental and anti-globalization activists in Seattle were a little different than the modern neutered peace movement.

Of course, by all accounts, the window smashers didn't get to work till after the majority of peaceful protesters had left, but guess who got all the publicity.
