Just saw the new fall TV schedule - puking now. |
|
Went through the new fall schedule on MSN. There is nothing I would watch on the entire schedule, nothing I have seen, nothing interesting at all.
Is this just me - am I just ungrateful for all that wonderful entertainment, a poor consumer - is it all really that bad?
I am 61, and remember a time before TV (the horror)and I am pretty sad if this is what it has become and all that it will be.
Thoughts on current TV?
(I have a sat dish, and there are many times I find nothing worth watching on all those channels. Thank god for books and my guitars.)

1. I've lived the last year and 2 months without a TV |
|
I still do watch movies, however (mostly documentaries), with my DVD player on my computer. But I don't even do that very often.
I don't know if I'm a better person for it, but I guess I have more time to do something productive like bitch about politics on the internet. :D

4. I usually find re-runs of the antique shows on BBC America, |
|
but I have not seen any of the network shows currently running. I could not believe it but they actually got worse!

5. This season was hurt by the writer's strike |
|
many shows, that would have been dumped, were kept because the strike prevented new shows from being developed and pilots filmed and evaluated. So basically they just repeated last season warts and all.

6. My wife likes "The Closer" and" Grace" whatever it's called. |
|
Grace is not bad, and the closer can actually be great for TV - the entire cast is very good, lots of oldtimers, and it is ever written well.
That's 2.

7. As long as House, Lost, and 24 are still there |
|
I'm actually mildly intrigued by that new one with Damien Lewis. I think that one has potential as he was pretty good in Band of Brothers as Capt. Winters.

8. You should watch "The Big Bang Theory" on CBS, Mondays |
|
Really, it's good. It's very clever and funny, so I'm surprised it's still on the air, but (presuming it was picked up) I highly recommend it.

are pretty much all we watch now. Monk, Psych, L&O: CI, The Closer, Doctor Who, Ghost Hunters..... The only shows we're looking forward to on network tv are The Sarah Conner Chronicles, Life and Lipstick Jungle.

15. Heroes starts up soon, doesn't it? |
|
Lost doesn't start until Winter, so yeah, other than those shows, it's a whole lot of suck.
