3. In just a few minutes of play, I like!
http://www.google.com/chrome

It's very similar in look and feel to the way I have Opera set up, almost to the point I wonder if it checked my Opera settings. (Or maybe google's look and feel developers think like I do.)

5. Yes and YES
It is very fast, and has a small memory footprint.

Currently am using FF3, which will continue to be my default as Chrome does not seem to support multiple FIXED (as opposed to changing based upon frequency of visited) home pages: and I rely upon half-a-dozen (of which 5 are on my own server) pages to get through the day, and have only used it for about 6 hours and have no idea of how it will hold up.

I also miss a lot of the widgets that I have added to FF - though Chrome does not seem to need some of them.

The Chrome release (still BETA by the way - but then so is gmail I believe) has gone much more smoothly than Apple's Safari did. Safari did not properly handle even the default font set on Windoz computers so the pages were all initially illegible. After a week Apple had not fixed this (like only a problem on 90% of the computers using the WWW) - expect Apple has fixed that now, but after Apple actually released such crap as a shipping app I will never use it.

Sadly, though wisely, google has only released the Windoz XP/Vista version of the app - though they do plan to support UNIX and MacOS.

Have used FF since FF1. Prior to that used Opera, B4 that Netscape.

Only have used IE when forced to by poor page design, or by monopolistic supporting company policy (ie I must use IE8 at work).

Chrome is a joy so far. Very fast with JS - as it has a compiler rather than an interpreter (so it only need to read the JS ONCE per page).

The main problem I have had with FF (though FF3 is better) is the incredibly poor memory management that the program has - both hogging and leaking. Chrome seems to have learned from this and have not, yet, had any memory related problems.

Give Chrome a try - it will make you smile.

6. Chrome Download Link update
Apparently there has been some download link problems for Chrome

This is now posted on the google chrome forum as being the correct download link:

http://www.google.com/chrome/

Remember it is WINDOZ XP/Pista only!

16. Still using it (some) this morning
A MAJOR problem for me is that Chrome allows ads - whereas in FF AdBlock (et al) keep about 90% of them from showing. I had forgotten how hard it was to read the various newspaper sites with all the ads flashing at you.

Also, the current release of JAVA is not supported by Chrome. In order to use JAVA plug-ins (eg: http://www.weather.gov/sat_loop.php?image=ir&hours=6 ) you have to install a BETA of the next version from Sun ( http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ea.jsp )

The XP system I'm running Chrome on black-screened (ie the next step beyond the Blue-Screen-Of-Death - the system spontaneously rebooted) whilst loading multiple tabs in Chrome. As I have not had a spont-reboot since replacing the powersupply several months ago I am suspicious that Chrome may also have memory leaks.

It is noticeably faster than FF (even than FF + FasterFox), and this is only the second day of the beta release, but spontaneous reboots will kill the launch.

22. why would google (an ad company) want you to block ads?
There's a reason adblock is not implemented on Chrome.

I, for one, do not welcome our new eyeball-seeking intarwebs overlords. Google can kiss my fleshy, pock-marked ass.

19. OK, I found one big plus with Chrome
it leaves a much smaller memory footprint, than IE. So if you have an older computer that might be a little light in the memory dept. this might be the browser for you.
