1. Sweet Angel! She looks like a big girl? He looks like a big boy?

Damn, bertha - I wish I owned my own place and then I'd have already adopted all the felines who roam around here... I'm so glad you have the Waldorf Estate for Wayward Felines :D

PS - Glad you gave notice. The heartache isn't worth it.

Authorities Search for Cougar Reportedly Seen in Woods

By Nelson Hernandez
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, August 1, 2008; B02

The University of Maryland and the state Department of Natural Resources searched the College Park campus yesterday in response to reports that a cougar might have been prowling a wooded area.

What appeared to be a large cat was spotted about 6 a.m. near University Boulevard, said Capt. John Brandt, a spokesman for the university's Department of Public Safety. By late afternoon, the animal had been spotted by witnesses several times but had not been caught on camera or seen by police.

The animal was described as light tan and tawny brown, about four feet long with a four-foot tail and weighing about 50 pounds, Brandt said. The size seemed to indicate that the animal was a cougar, which is not native to Maryland. Experts say cougars have not lived wild in the area since the mid-1800s.

This is not very far from my house; and it's possible that I saw this cat late one night, creeping into a patch of woods about 2 blocks away. I don't think it was a cougar, because it was too small; but it may have been a bobcat.

11. I've got a similar one
who lives in my shed. A real scaredy-cat. I call her Tiger and sometimes she lets me pet her, but usually runs away.

Haven't seem her since we got the double punch of Faye and Gustav, but someone is eating the food, lol.

I don't think I've ever used that saying literally. :)

13. Wish I could gain her trust more.
She was obviously horribly abused. Her hind legs and tail look as if she was very badly injured at some point. When I do pet her, I have stay away from that area altogether.

Does Angel let you get close to him/her?

14. i'm slowly getting closer and closer
it's clear that s/he wants to be near me, but s/he's very frightened still. I think s/he's a lost house cat who's been out in the "wild" for a while. I'm SO glad she wandered into the Haven.

I think I should be able to pet her a little by the weekend. Mrs. V. says I have "a touch." :)
