I had two plantars warts CUT out of the ball of my right foot yesterday. |
|
:( with 6-8 stiches, too. I have to stay off my feet as much as I can for the next 2-3 WEEKS while it heals. Greeaat.
The gimpy-ness totally sucks, but nothing else seemed to be working, so that's the deal for me. Hopefull, they'll be gone for good now.
In the meantime, I can't get the bandage wet, so I have to wear a special cast cover in the shower, I can't work out at the gym, I can't ride my bike, I have to rely on the kids much more for help, I can't put any weight on my right foot, I have to use a special turning leg caddy thing just to get around the house, or else I'm limping slowly and uncomfortably everywhere. Just doing the most basic things are completely exhausting and difficult.
Basically, I'm a total gimpy and pathetic wreck. I've never even broken a bone before so I'm not used to this sort of physical limitation. It's humbling, to say the least.
:( Sigh....
Has anybody else ever had to deal with something like this? I'm only on Day 2 and I'm pretty bummed.

I've had a plantar wart in the middle of the ball of my right foot, and I've been thinking about getting it taken care of once my new health insurance kicks in in a couple of weeks, but if that's what the recommended recovery is like...

2. I broke a bone in my left elbow 18 months ago |
|
8 weeks in a sling. They couldn't cast it because the joint would freeze up. Had to do everything with my right hand - carry laundry, washing my hair, pulling up your pants... Think about all the things that require two hands. Brushing my hair, driving, typing. It was miserable and Lelapin was 45 minutes away in the dorm.
Oh, and shoveling snow...

6. MrG had 13 plantars warts (he stressed a lot) zapped on the |
|
instep of his foot. 13 little pin holes massed together, causing him great pain because his job was a stand up job and he refused to take time off. It broke my heart to watch.
 feel better.

9. I had three removed in highschool, I cut two more out myself a few years later |
|
a sterile scalpel, alcohol, gauze...the hole nine yards.
The scars from the DIY look better than the ones that the podiatrist did.
I can handle pain if I'm the one doing it to myself.
...be sure to soak your feet in Boric Acid for a while

11. The scar thing... it reminds me of when I went to a plastic surgeon |
|
to see if I could get a small mole removed from my upper cheek. Yes, I could: for about $600 - and it would leave a scar. I opted against the procedure and long story short, pulled the thing off by mistake the following summer. No scar!

I hope you feel better quickly. I had one on my foot for about eight months, then I decided to get rid of it myself. I used the chemicals and duct tape but what really worked is me just pulling the thing off, bit by bit, over a period of weeks. Gross and bloody, but successful. (I can be really cheap)

12. sorry to hear it - hadn't seen you around for a while... |
|
maybe it's good to have folks wait on you a bit, but I understand it's a pain to have to depend on others and not be able to get around so welll.
Having broken a bone or two in the past and had to wear a cast on my hand, you have my sympathy.

...you're probably recovering more from the stitches than the holes in your feet. My sympathy!

14. I had one removed senior year in high school. |

I recall wearing that flat shoe thingee for about a week. After that, it wasn't so bad.
This too shall pass, and life goes on. :)
