Damnit! There is a dog nearby that sounds like it's screaming in pain.
It's somewhere on the other side of the blackberry bushes on the side of my yard, but I can't see it.

It's breaking my heart, hearing it.

Anyone have ANY ideas on what to do?

1. Get a flashlight and look for it.

2. Streets around here are really funky, and I think the sound is coming
from a neighbor's yard that I have no earthly way of finding in the dark.

Shoot! It's driving me crazy.

3. I hope it isn't a long-haired dog entangled in the thorny brambles!
Let us know if you see it, okay?

5. Will do.
I hope so too.

Those blackberry bushes can really grab onto you, be you human or animal.

4. My dear SeattleGirl...
It is kind of late for you to be prowling around the neighborhood...

Do you think the police would respond to a call about this?

Might be worth a try...

It sounds awful.

I'm sorry...

7. I don't know if the police would respond or not.
I wish the owner's would! There really aren't any stray dogs around here, so I'm assuming the dog has an owner.

If the dog is in a yard that is not it's owner's, you'd think those people would come outside and at least try to find out what's going on.

The blackberries between my yard and the one down the hill is at least 50-75 feet.

6. I'd go look for him/her. That would tear my heart out.
An injured dog could be dangerous. Take a collar and a leash with you, and try to gently get the situation under control. Then take him/her to the Animal Hospital.

That's what I would do. And please do update.

Where the hell is flvegan?

8. The problem is, it's really dark in that area, and I'm not sure how
to get there. There are a lot of tiny, weirdly laid out streets around here.

Right now, it seems like MrSG and I are the only ones who care about this pup.

And yeah, where the hell is flvegan?

11. He can only do so much since he is so far away.
And neither can I.

But I'd be out there beating the bushes with a flashlight.

13. It has.
Stopped shortly after I went outside to try and figure out where the sound was coming from.

15. Me too.
As I said upthread, the streets around here are nuts, and in some places (like where I think the dog I heard) don't have street lights.

Poor thing sounded so awful.
