My male cat is getting to be a total butt head and obnoxious snot head.
The female cat adopted ME, several months before I rescued him from the shelter. Ten or twelve or so years ago for both of them, I'm not sure.

The female cat has always been very docile, friendly, and snuggly. When I brought that disgusting little 3 week old male beast into my home, she was totally disgusted. He couldn't even clean himself, for crissakes!

Little did she know, the mother cat of that litter died during kitty birth, and I was feeding him with droppers, and trying to nurse him back to health. I even bought a flat sports bra, to tuck him in, because he was so panicked about being without warmth or a mother's care.

He still thinks I am his mother, after all these years. He always sleeps on my butt, head, neck, or face. God Damn, he's alway been my "problem child", and I would never abandon him.

But dammit! He's getting so damned ornery, and picking on, as well as attacking, the female cat. Usually, all I have to do is yell "Hey!" or "Stop it!" And he quits.

That little shit is getting too nasty. And then he has the nerve to approach me for lovin' and cuddlin'. I'm going to pop the little fart on the head next time he goes pickin' a fight.

Humph!

3. But you love your little baby boy, don't you?
I have a female like that. A real pain in the butt, but I love her to pieces.

2. Has he been neutered?
Male house cats are too aggressive for their own good.

5. get a squirt bottle ... we have a big, BIG male who
sometimes gets overexcited and picks fights -- but a squirt bottle and a few direct sprays of water have calmed him down -- I'll let them wrestle a bit, but if he starts getting too wound up, all I need to do is just reach for the bottle and he quits. :) And now he seems to have learned (unless he loses his head, of course) that gentle play is fine, but rough is not.

6. That is a great idea. I had a squirt pistol and after a while all I'd have
to do is point it at my cat and say "freeze" and she would stop whatever she was doing wrong, freeze, then take off running.

10. What I did when my ex lived here with her kitty, that my ornery one didn't like,
I used the Feliway plug in. It did seem to settle him down a bit. Maybe I should go with that again.

He sure is getting naughty. And the female cat is so docile and sweet, and doesn't deserve his attacks out of nowhere.

I could never part with him though. He'd never be able to adjust elsewhere and I can't do that to him.

12. Ya know, I was wondering about that....
My sweet and gentle cat that he picks on is a female.

And my ex's cat was a female, (A little smooshed faced Persian, cute as a button) and just as sweet, gentle, and docile. My male "problem child" was especially nasty and naughty to her. That's when we tried the Feliway.

That seemed to help, but didn't completely eliminate the problem.

I seriously suspect it is a male, testosterone thing with him. So, what does that mean? He has too much, or not enough, testosterone?

I don't know why he is getting so ornery again all of a sudden. Maybe he's just getting old and more cranky. Actually, I think I'll try the Feliway again.

And, before anyone EVEN suggests it, there is NO WAY I would ever part with him. He may be a little shit, but I've always considered him my "special needs" little shit. That would clip his wings and break his spirit, and he'd never be able to adjust to a new environment. I would NEVER do that to him, or abandon him like that.

He sure is a pain in the ass though. But he lurves his mama, and I lurves him too.

13. Ever see the movie "Grumpy Old Men"?
It's not just about humans. Male cats usually go one of two ways when the get older:
1)Get very mellow
2)Get crazy off the wall unpredictable

(Same as the human breed) ;)

15. Okay, so the ornery male is parked into the soft, snuggly place the female cat took last night.
Like I said, the female is very docile and friendly, and is happy to camp out in a different place with a soft blanky, to accommodate him to take over her other spot.

He's in her previous spot now, but he is now staring at her so damned snarly. I just know he wants her new place now. It's not an accident that I call him "snarly butt".

Damned little rascal.
