New 'Iron Chef' ingredient: Alton Brown |
|
Marietta foodie Alton Brown has an "Iron" clad new gig at Food Network. "The Good Eats" host will be the commentator for his network's new "Iron Chef America" series of specials. The shows are slated to feature original "Iron Chefs" Masaharu Morimoto and Hiroyuki Sakai facing off against Food Network faves Bobby Flay, Mario Batali and Buckhead eatery namesake Wolfgang Puck. http://www.accessatlanta.com/entertainment/content/entertainment/peachbuzz/wednesday.html

3. I can't stand Bobby Flay |
|
I can't put my finger on the reason, but he is just plain smug and irritating.

I know folks in the industry, and they say that Batali is the smug one. And that Bobby Flay's workers will go anywhere and do anything for him.
It takes something to inspire that sort of loyalty. Since I found that out, I've seen him through new eyes, and he's not quite as smug as I thought he was. He's just sarcastic, I think.

Batali cancook, but he is smug as all get-out. I just don't think Flay is very talented. I really believe Ina (Barefoot Contessa) is nice AND talented (and I think she likes to drink like a fish, too). And Taylor is just cute as a button. Hey! Maybe Sarah Moulton can get on. I love her, too.

on "Iron Chef" left people with a bad impression. He was such a bad sport when he lost the first time, and a bad sport again when he won. However, in light of what you said about him, maybe his reactions were pure theater. Playing up for the camera, you know.
edit: Alton Brown rules, Mario Batali drools.

This could be a lot of fun. I liked the episode on his show where he spoofed Iron Chef and built a cold smoker.

But, I'd get rid of Flay, and replace him with Tony Bourdain....

12. I LOVE him! Didja ever see the episode.... |
|
....where he's somewhere in Mexico, and eats an iguana tamale? Out of all the bizarre stuff I've watched him eat all over the world, that's the one time I saw him openly hate something. "I think this is the worst thing I've ever eaten," he said....and I believe him.
And yes, he is sexy. I'd do him in a heartbeat.

Anybody who willingly eats palpitating cobra hearts and deep fried tree grub rocks, in my book at least...although, on second thought, I'd also replace Puck with Yan, from Wok With Yan fame.... what a showman he is..
