2. Alanis is an interesting choice
I like her music more than have a crush with her, but her personality always keeps her interesting.

I'll add Gwen to my "other notable crushes." Mostly like Avril for her music.

5. Her music is why.
She's not the most physically attractive, but she's very talented and mindful and passionate. She also seems pretty true to herself, confident and strong. Hence my crush.

I consider things besides looks when listing crushes: personality, if I know they are liberal/Democrats or not, how much I've seen them, age compatibility, intangibles, and even talent.

I just can't chance the possibility of allowing anybody who thinks Gwen Stefani is in any way hot to reproduce.

Can't stand her.

Lucinda Williams, Barbara Brousal (Dan Zanes & Friends), Kim Gordon, Fiona Apple, Jill Cunniff (Luscious Jackson), Patrice Pike (Sister 7), Liz Phair (from her Matador days), Shirley Manson, Hope Sandoval, Juliana Hatfield, Gabriela Quintero (ok, not a singer, but still)

Edited to add Nicole Kidman, because she sang in Moulan Rouge, and that counts.

Hard to have a crush on this guy.

Though the noose is simply fetching!

Ok, at the moment, it would be Julie Christmas from Made Out Of Babies. Attractive both physically and spiritually, and a voice that can both melt your heart and tear your face off, usually within the same song.

I don't think Susanna Hoffs even needs to be mentioned in these kind of posts. She just goes without saying.

28. I love that you listen to all the music you do.
I know our tastes have little crossover (Bad Religion maybe?) but I just love to see anyone into music to the degree you are. I know what music does for me, and it's good to see others get that kind of enjoyment and meaning out of it, regardless of what music it is.

I live in a real mixed neighborhood. We have black, white, hispanic, chinese, etc all over the place, and just walking down the street you'll hear 5 different types of music coming from a house or passing car. I love it! I love seeing people into music.

I appreciate the kind words, and I also like diversity. That's why I disagree with elitists and music critics who think they know more. How can you say how a particular kind of music should affect someone?

Have a great day! :hi:

30. "How can you say how a particular kind of music should affect someone?"
And there you have it. Perfectly stated.

I know what I get into is a bit out there (ok, "bit" is an understatement), but it's what hits me, and that's all that matters. Music hits people for so many different reasons that trying to apply your own reasons to everyone else's is a fool's game.

I used to be a real music nazi. Back in the mid 80's I was utterly dumbfounded how anyone couldn't like the Dead Kennedys or Metallica. My main thought was, "Are these people idiots?"

Now that I'm older and can fake maturity better I know that my tastes aren't everyone's tastes. And thank God for that! The diversity is something I've totally learned to appreciate, thanks to many bands that stretched my own concept of what's good and what isn't. And knowing that what I listen to is so out of the ordinary makes it hard to harp on anyone else for what they listen to. When one gets into bands named the Butthole Surfers or Cannibal Corpse it makes it a little hard to criticize someone else's music. ;)

Have a great weekend!!!!

I'm one of the few it seems who likes her pop stuff, but I'd buy in this order:

1) Exile In Guyville
2) whitechocolatespaceegg (great mix of the indie and pop Liz)
3) Somebody's Miracle

Consider: self-titled (at a B grade, that's her worst IMO)

I actually haven't heard all of Whip-Smart

I get turned on by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith. I doubt I would ever want to do anything with them save hug them, but there is a serious sexiness about them.
Paul McCartney is in there too. He's so British. I love it!
Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jr., Adam Levine of Maroon 5 (I often tease my husband about this guy. I could wrap my legs around...sorry. I don't want to get this locked. LOL), Damian Kulash from OK GO is so adorable, and when I was a kid, I was going to marry Elvis, even though he died a year before I was born. I was an odd child.
