Musical taste defines your personality
LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Fans of classical music and jazz are creative, pop lovers are hardworking and, despite the stereotypes, heavy metal listeners are gentle, creative types who are at ease with themselves.

So says Professor Adrian North of Scotland's Heriot-Watt University who has been studying the links between people's personalities and their choice of music.

1. I'm a metal fan
My recent music purchases are Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, Slipknot, All That Remains, and Killswitch Engage. I'm also empathic and an all around nice guy. And you guys know me and my little stories. I guess there's just a part of my brain that needs to feel a little aggression now and again.

It's odd that I like renaissance music and classical music... but I'm not really a fan of baroque. Go figure. :P

Not sure how accurate that description is though. Doesn't describe me, at least.

11. I like country. People are always shocked by that, but it's true.
I like some classical, but when I just want to listen for enjoyment, I turn on country or bluegrass. I don't like some of the lyrics--all that icky nationalist Toby Keith shit--but I like the rhythms and feel of it. Make of that what you will.

20. There are quite a few great players in country,
but you have to dig a little deep. I like some of the older stuff, up to maybe the middle 1970's. I don't even know names of many current country players.

Autechre to Albinoni. Pink Floyd to Penderecki.

35. Uh, I like Irish music, as well as South American Indian music, Middle Eastern music,
Chinese and Japanese traditional music, bluegrass, country, and Tuvan throat-singing.

Along with anything that involves piano, harpsichord, lute, or hurdy-gurdy.

So what does that say about me?

37. The only things I don't like
Country: Is the tonal equivalent of TEH EPIC SUXXORZ.
Jazz: Cannot listen to on purpose, but as background, it's rather enjoyable.
Classical: I don't own a powdered wig, so I always think I'm underdressed for the experience. It's ok, I suppose, but I don't go out of my way.

So.

How does does eclecticism in musical taste factor in here?
