My husband lost his job a year and a half ago, and the cobra continuation insurance coverage will run out on March 5.
It's billed monthly, we pay 565.94 for the two of us. To be eligible for hipaa coverage, where you can get insurance which covers pre-existing conditions and you can't be denied, you have to keep your cobra coverage until the end.
Well the period of March 1 through 5, they are charging us the full amount of 565.94! That just sucks. I had naively just assumed they would pro rate the charges.
That just sucks.

Call your state AG. May not do any good but at least you get to yell about it.

although i think I paid for 2 or 3 weeks, not 5 days. Apparently they can get away with that.
We are now self-employed and are currently paying over $1300 a month for a family of four, including dental.
The insurance industry sucks the big one!
