Technical question
I'm having a little trouble with my web site and another I take care of. Both use the same web host. They both seem to be working fine, but I simply can't get them to load on my home computer. I can get them at work and friends tell me they can get them at the same time I can't.

This all seems to have begun when I tried to transfer some updated pages via FTP. Now I can't do that either. This was about the same time I was having a spotty internet connection last weekend. I was also having trouble running ISPQ.

I thought maybe it was my firewall, but I set my firewall settings to "do nothing" and the problem was still there. (I quickly set them back to "do something")

Does anyone have any insight into this?

1. Use basic troubleshooting to figure it out.
I work in web hosting tech support so I would say try the following:

Run a traceroute
Run a ping test
Telnet to port 80
Try command line FTP
Take the results to your ISP

You may have crashed something with your local router, if you have one in-house, of your ISP could just be having basic networking issues. Definitely contact the ISP about it though.

If you have any questions on this, PM me.

3. How you do --
trace route - from a command prompt (DOS window) type:

tracert mywebdomain.com

where mywebdomain.com is replaced with the address relevant to you.

This will tell you if there is a problem anywhere between you and the website in question.

ping test -

ping mywebdomain.com

This will tell you if you can see the site from where you are, and if packets are travelling appropriately.

telnet port 80:

telnet www.mywebdomain.com /PORT=80
