My week from hell continues: My mother is in the hospital...
My stepfather just called me. My mother apparantly passed out this morning in the kitchen for no reason. She's never had this issue before..She went to the doctor but they couldn't find anything so they admitted her to the hospital for overnight observation..She's been having problems with uncontrolled high blood pressure. FUCK FUCK FUCK.
I am very close to my mother, unlike the rest of my dysfunctional family. I'm so scared.I'm going to see if maybe I can see her tonight...

3. My dear turtlensue...
People don't pass out for no reason...

I hope they find what is wrong, and fix it quickly...

High blood pressure can sure do that...

I hope that hasn't been going on very long.

My very best vibes to you and your mom, sweetie...

Hang in there...

Remember to breathe...

6. I just talked to my mother..
She's STILL sitting in the emergency waiting area...So, since it looks like a long while before they know anything and there's nothing I can do, I'm not going over tonight..I'll be closer to the hospital tomorrow from work if she needs me..But I'm worried. The blood pressure medication she's on..its been making her blood pressure go up!:wtf:

7. Sometimes
it takes trying several bp medications before they find the right one. A friend's mom just about had a stroke while she was in the hospital a few months ago, until they took her off everything, and started fresh. She is home now, doing quite well. At least she's at the hospital, even if it's in the stupid ER. Hopefully they'll get a bed for her and they can get her squared away with the meds quickly.

You've had a crappy week. I see that there are loads of people here that care about you, so keep everyone posted and try to take care of yourself too.

Do your folks live close to you?

9. Very..about 8 miles from me
And the hospital is closer to my work than my house..I'm thinking if they keep her during the day I might shoot over there during the day...

13. Cool
Good that you're close and zoom to see her without the stress of a long drive or havin' to hassle with a plane trip. Hope you get some sleep tonight and have good news to report in the mornin'.

We'll be thinkin' of y'all. :hi:

8. Okay, syncope isn't dangerous. It can be if the person
hits something on the way down, but it sounds as though your mom might be having some hypotension. It doesn't sound, to me, anyway, cardiac related.

If she mistakenly took her BP meds twice, or they aren't the right ones, this could happen.

Try to think positive thoughts. I will, too.

11. If she had a TIA, the doctor will
put her on a blood thinner like warfarin. I'm betting it wasn't cardiac. Hypotension is pretty common in folks who have been taking HTN mds for a while. My husband gets it when he stands quickly.

16. Sorry to hear that
It can be so f-ing frustrating when you know something isn't right and the docs can find nothing. I'm sure they'll figure it out and get he on the road to recovery soon.

All my sympathy and encouragement to you and your Mom.
