usually. It was also used as a diminutive famously for Dwight Eisenhower.

3. Of course it was a nickname for Dwight D. Eisenhauer. "I like Ike" was a campaign slogan in 1952.
Imagine that. Things were a little simpler back then.

7. I knew that. But I've known a couple of other guys called "Ike",
who were not Eisenhower. So, I figured it must have some other etymology.
